pink foot geese
The break out!
Pink Foot Geese, Wighton, Norfolk.
We could hear them from over a mile away – thousands of gathering geese in the winter snow, near Wighton. We walked towards them slowly but deliberately. No telephoto. Just a short range wide-angle lens (so in fact we were closer than the lens suggests – almost upon them. We crept forwards until they decided we were too close: and then this photograph. They settled again shortly afterwards as we respectively retreated, snow underfoot and silence everywhere except for the geese continuing to call each other.
