The place where
nothing stands still.

'I am always doing things I can't do. That's how I get to do them.'
– Pablo Picasso

It's not just the code, it's the result. Not just how it looks (for it appears different in most browsers and a bewildering array of online devices), but how it behaves. It's not just how a website guides the viewer and solicits them to navigate, but for what value – the seller as well as the buyer, the information as well as the audience.

To become an effective art director for print I trained comprehensively in all aspects of the underlying technologies. Likewise with the web I am continually seeking to improve my general knowledge of the underlying technology – together with an ongoing immersion in behaviours of search engines and how best to integrate all the various strands of online marketing.

I enjoy collaborating on large scale projects, integrating my design skills into client-side technical departments, and – if appropriate, hand-crafting an entire project from beginning to end.

Showing examples of previous website projects is seldom a simple issue. Designs are continually superceeded by additional content, technicalities, and these include subsequent revisions by agencies that continue after my initial design.

Here is a recent example, albeit a small website, and one I also have a business interest in: retreatforward.com
