They share more than may seem obvious: the same corner of Midsummer Common; the soil, the passing river, rain, fog, ice, wind, snow, each storm and drought, the cattle, bycycle chains, pen knifes, the odd spate of strimming, the eyes of council tree surgeons, the uncertain attentions and inattentions of the revellers of the various summer fairs... It's a wild world out there. No wonder they lean the same way.
